Pressure cooker Chicken biriyani



Chicken - 1 kg

Basmati rice -750 gm

Tomatoes- 200 gm

Onion- 400 gm

Garlic- 15 gm

Ginger- 20 gm

Green chili- 5-6

Coriander leaves - 1/2 bunch

Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp

Cinnamon- 3 medium size pieces


Cardamom- 7

Ghee or sunflower oil or any fat

Salt -  to taste




Cut and clean chicken.

Then transfer the chicken to a pressure cooker, add turmeric powder, salt to taste.

Cook till 3 whistle comes.

When cool open the pressure cooker.

Wash and drain the rice.

Crush garlic and ginger.

Cut onion into straight thin pieces.

Slice tomatoes.

Heat ghee/oil in a pan, add garam masala.

Add sliced onion and saute till it reaches golden brown.

Add tomatoes and green chili.

Saute it for 10 more minutes on a low flame.

Add salt to taste.

Transfer these fried ingredients to chicken.

Add warm water.

Mix everything nicely.

Boil it for some minutes.

Add wash and drained rice. Add lime juice.

Mix everything.

Close pressure cook and cook for 10- 15 minutes.

Serve it.
