Curd Rice / Thayir Sadam



Yum thayir sadam


Raw rice- 250 gms
Salt to taste
Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves
Green chili-3-4
Ginger- 1/2 inch piece
Asafoetida- 1 big pinch
Pomegranate seeds
Gingelly oil


Heat oil in a pan, I have used 
Gingelly oil.Pop mustard seeds and curry leaves.
Add asafoetida to it.
Saute everything nicely for a few seconds.
Add sliced green chili and ginger.
Saute everything again.
Here I have used Raw rice 
(pachari in Malayalam ). I have cooked it with water and salt required.
Add curd (I have used 250 grams  rice, So I have added 
curd 1/2 cup)Amount of curd depends on the sour taste of 
curd. I have used fresh curd, without having sour 

mix everything nicely.
Add boiled and cooled milk(1/4 cup).
Check and add if more curd is required.
            Add mustard seeds , curry leaves all to it.Mix everything.
Add pomegranate seeds to it.
Keep it in the refrigerator for 2 hours
and serve it .
