Ingredients


Shallots(sliced)-1 cup

Grated coconut - 1 cup

Red chili powder- 1 teaspoon

Coriander powder- 1  1/2 teaspoon

Fenugreek - 4-5

Turmeric powder- 1/4 teaspoon

Coconut oil - as required

Tamarind - a lemon sized ball

Curry leaves - 2 stalks

Salt - to taste

Method


Soak tamarind in water.

In a pan, fry coconut till it turns brown.

Let it cool.

Heat oil in a pan.

Add shallots and curry leaves.

Saute it till shallots turn translucent.

Keep it aside.

Meanwhile, grind the roasted coconut, turmeric powder, 

red chili powder, and coriander powder.

Add this ground paste to sauteed shallots.

Add tamarind extract and salt to taste.

Let it boil for a few minutes by stirring occasionally.

Heat oil in a pan.

Pop mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds.

Add this to prepared theeyal.

Serve with Rice.

Note :

You can adjust the level of masalas as per your preference.
