Hot and Sour Chicken Soup



Yum Hot and Sour Chicken Soup

Hot and sour chicken soup is one of my favorite dishes.


chicken stock- 800 ml
shredded carrots- 60 gm
shredded capsicums- 60 gm
Shredded spring onion bulbs- 60 gm
Pepper-2 gm
chili oil- 10 ml
Shredded chicken (cooked)- 60 gm
salt- to taste
Soy sauce- 5 ml
Vinegar-10 ml
Cornflour-20 gm


Bring chicken stock to a boil.
Add to it, shredded vegetables, and cook for 3 minutes.
Add shredded chicken, salt, and soya sauce.
When stock begins boiling, add cornflour dissolved in water.
Pour a few drops of chili oil, vinegar, and pepper powder into each soup bowl.
Pour hot sour over and serve hot, garnished with spring onion leaves.

Preparation of  chili oil

To prepare chili oil, add very hot oil to chili powder. Let it stand for 10 minutes and strain out clear chili oil.

Preparation of chicken stock



½ kg chicken-  cleaned(cut into pieces)

Onion – sliced -1

Crushed garlic- 1tsp

Crushed ginger-1 tsp


Method of preparation


Put all the ingredients in a cooker with 1 tsp salt and 8-9 cups of water. Pressure cook for 10 minutes.

Cool and remove the meat from the bones. This meat can be used in soups, fried rice, noodles.

Add the bones in the cooker along with 2-3 cups of water and pressure cook for another 5 minutes.

Strain and use the stock for soups and sauces.
