Karutha Kadala Varattiyathu
Ingredients
Black chickpeas- 1/2 cup
Cinnamon- a small piece
Cloves -3-4
Garlic- 2pods
Salt - to taste
Turmeric Powder- 1/4 tsp
Chilli Powder- 1 1/2 - 2 tsp
Coriander Powder-1 tsp
Onion- 2 medium size
Method
Soak clean and washed chickpeas overnight. Soak at least for 4-5 hours.
Drain it.
Take a pressure cooker, add the black chickpeas to it, add cinnamon, cloves, garlic, and salt to taste.
Add water. Close the pressure cooker, and cook for 30 minutes on a low- medium flame. or till it is done.
Heat oil in a pan, add onion(cut into straight pieces) and saute till it becomes golden brown color.
Add all the masala and saute it for a few minutes on a low flame, till its raw smell goes off.
Add the drained chickpeas to the pan, add mix everything nicely.
Cook again on a medium, flame.
Serve it with Rice/chappathi.
