Wheat Puttu Kerala Style


Yum Wheat puttu


Wheat Flour- 1 cup

Water- 8 tbspn (may vary)

Salt- to taste

Grated Coconut


In a bowl, add wheat flour and salt. Mix nicely.

To this add water, little by little, and mix well till you reach bread crumbs consistency.

Then add this flour into a dry mixie jar and pulse it a couple of times(just give a whip), to remove lumps.

Add it to a bowl and add 1 1/2 tspoon grated coconut.

Keep it aside for a few minutes, say 5- 10 mins

Keep the puttu kudam filled with water on the stove.

Take puttu kutti(cylindrical shape vessel that is used to make puttu), add grated coconut first, fill the rest with the wheat mixture and at the top and middle also, add grated coconut, and close it.

Keep it on the puttu kudam.

Steam for 10 minutes or till done. Serve it with kadala curry/fish curry.
